We are indebted to Andrew Ingamells for the photographs above and below taken from his mum’s family collection. Both were taken in 1943. Above are (from left) Andrew’s grandmother Alice Butterworth and his mum Marion Butterworth with his cousin Michael Butterworth in the foreground. Michael’s dad was George Butterworth who was a POW when this photo was taken. George can be seen in the team photo from the 1936 Bury Amateur League winning team. Below is Andrew’s mum relaxing on the field in front of the old pavilion on a spot that would now be in the middle of the club’s car park!
