Rob Kilvington’s Ashes journey continues to the Sydney Cricket Ground for the final test .

This time Rob met up with true Greenmount CC legend, professional and great friend Mark Taylor who was Mount paid man in 1988.

Rob is pictured wearing a special pink Greenmount CC T20 shirt, kindly donated by Ian Senior, to support Jane McGrath Day.

The Jane McGrath Foundation was founded by former Aussie legend Glenn McGrath and his late wife to support breast cancer nurses in rural and regional Australia.

Mark has signed the shirt which will be framed and auctioned, all proceeds going to Bury Hospice.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday Rob and go well Tubs!

Rob Kilvington is having a blast Down Under.

Greenmount CC’s former chairman brought England some good fortune at the MCG and also had time to meet up with former Mount professional Richard Chee Quee.

“Cheeqs”, club paid man in 1994 and 1997, is lead singer of a rock band ‘Six And Out’ featuring Aussie cricket stars Brett Lee; Shane Lee; Gavin Robertson and Brad McNamara.

After club member Tim Daverage (who had the flag made through his company Lantex and went over to watch the first test) handed the GCC England Ashes flat to Rob in the Log Cabin a couple of weeks ago, Rob – travelling with son Patrick and friend Mark Lambert and his son Sam – met up with Cheeqs at a Melbourne concert and he was delighted to sign it.

Rob is also looking to meet up with other former Greenmount professionals Mark Taylor (1988) and Matthew Hayden (1992) while he is over there.

Greenmount CC are delighted to announce the signing of Dominic Ashley from Swinton Moorside Cricket Club in the Greater Manchester League.

An opening bowler, Dom is currently playing out in Australia for Mildura Settlers CC and at this rate he will be in for Mark Wood!

The Settlers – based in Victoria – once fielded the fabulous talents of former Greenmount CC professional Jamie Siddons.

We look forward to welcoming Dom to the Log Cabin in the Spring!

EVERYONE at Greenmount CC sends their congratulations to club professional Jacques Snyman and his Flexbrands Knights teammates who won the 2025-2026 CSA T20 Knockout competition on Monday after their 11-run victory over Eastern Cape Iinyathi (Border).

Jacques delivered a trademark match-winning performance taking 3 for 31 and making a typically belligerant 26 from 14 balls.

The encounter went to the reserve day at the Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein after rain halted play on Monday.

Pictured below are Jacques with his teammates; wife Erin and daughter Leyah and an interview with the Mount paid-man following the victory.

Quiz Night at the Mount returns by popular demand on Friday, 17th October with our dynamic host Ian Senior!

Tickets are just £5 and are now available behind the members’ bar. There is a maximum of six people in a team and start time is 7.30pm on the dot.

Why not get down earlier and make an evening of it with a slap up meal from Audrey’s Kitchen?

Audrey’s Kitchen are thrilled to share that they have this week been awarded a 5-star food hygiene rating – the highest you can get!

It’s a huge achievement for the amazing team for keeping standards spotless from day one and to all members and visitors who have supported them while they’ve been getting up and running.

Pop down this weekend and tuck into pies, curries, cakes and coffees knowing everything is cooked up to the very best standards.

It’s strange to have the first weekend without cricket but last Saturday night saw the Annual Senior Cricket Presentation awards held at the Log Cabin.

Amid a season of excellent team performances, there were, of course, some outstanding individual efforts and heroic moments. See presentation article.

And a big shout-out goes to Mark Crowther who won the Club Person of the Year trophy.

Mark has devoted a huge amount of time to the club, volunteering behind the scenes and handling all sorts of essential tasks that often go unnoticed.

If you’ve watched Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams you’ll appreciate how lucky we are to have such great facilities. You’ll also know that clubs like ours rely on the dedication of many people to keep them running.

AUDREY’S KITCHEN

Audrey’s is really starting to fly now and we want to thank you for your support so far!

Breakfast is served at 10am on both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, we’re also offering a proper Sunday Roast: slow-cooked beef brisket with homemade Yorkshire pudding, mash, honey carrots and our own homemade gravy.

CAR PARK CLOSURE

The car park will be closed for a significant surface upgrade from Monday, 29th September to Monday, 6th October.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to improve our facilities.

CLUB POLICY & CONDUCT

With the autumn upon us, we’d like to share a friendly reminder on club policy and conduct. We have zero tolerance for any abuse towards our staff or any form of antisocial behaviour.

We’re not getting heavy here folks – we simply want to make sure we keep the warm, friendly and family environment that makes our community club so special.

We have a great reputation, especially with visiting clubs, and we’re all responsible for keeping our values alive.

STAFF – WE’RE RECRUITING

We are still actively recruiting for bar staff and are also looking for a full-time bar manager.

If you know anyone with the experience, character and personality to thrive in our busy and growing environment please encourage them to get in touch.
