Trio of wins as Mount maintain momentum

Greenmount’s first eleven maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the JWL Lancashire League Division Two table with a 47 run victory over Bacup at Lanehead.

Cameron Mapstone

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, the Mount didn’t have things all their own way at the start of the innings and at 86 for 5 a commanding total looked unlikely.

Thankfully, middle-order knocks of 44 from Cameron Mapstone and 43 from skipper Travis Townsend gave the total a more respectable look and the villagers finished on 185 all out in the 48th over.

In the reply, bowling figures of 4 for 30 from professional Jacques Snyman and 3 for 33 from Callum Hunter took the wind out of the home side’s sails and they were dismissed for 138.
