Looks like the summer has well and truly begun, with lots of sun, cricket and our beautiful ground looking its very best. Unfortunately, the weekend’s cricket didn’t quite go according to plan!
CRICKET
In a needlessly thrilling finish on Sunday, the first team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by just two runs, after racing to 124 for 1 in only 15 overs while chasing Todmorden’s 207.

The second team worked hard to reduce their margin of loss in the reverse fixture, largely thanks to a rearguard resistance from Rion Dalugoda and Jack Hallows.
Meanwhile, the third team completed a trio of narrow losses on Saturday, despite some promising contributions from young players Ed Cunnington, Dexter Crowther and James Herbert on his senior debut.
More match details are available on our website in Phil’s weekly round-up.
Upcoming fixtures
- Saturday: The Worsley Cup campaign starts with the firsts travelling to East Lancashire while the seconds are at home against the same opponents.
- Sunday: The firsts are away at Darwen with the seconds playing host at the Log Cabin
- Bank Holiday Monday: The third team visit Burnley.
Performance of the week: This week’s honour goes once again to our professional Jacques Snyman for his score of 94 from 63 balls – a knock peppered with 10 fours and three sixes.
Jacques is sponsored by The Bramble, Ramsbottom.
