Well it didn’t come home again, but who’s really surprised, honestly?
However, we did have the satisfaction of beating France, so finishing third felt a bit better!
Now that’s over with, can we just watch some cricket instead? Here’s a quick round-up of where we are as we come to the last weekend of July.

Match Results

- First team: Made short work of Darwen moving to fifth in the Premier Division with a fifth win in the last six matches. Amal Dalugoda (4 for 24) and Callum Hunter (3 for 23) took the bowling honours, while a typically belligerant 66 from Jacques and an unbeaten 27 from Travis saw us comfortably home.
- Second team: Slipped to a sixth consecutive defeat with a heavy loss at Darwen.
Upcoming Fixtures
- Saturday: The third team travel away to Haslingden.
- Sunday: The first team look to continue their push for a top four finish when they entertain Littleborough at home. The Second team are away in the corresponding fixture at Littleborough.
Performance of the Week
- Amal Dalugoda: Awarded for a masterclass of left-arm spin bowling, snaring four wickets (4 for 24) in the first team’s victory.
CHARITY T20 AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY
We’ve plugged this event a few times already, but we’re going to carry on until we’ve got everyone’s attention!
Please put the date in your diaries to get along to the club and support this charity event. We are raising money for Bury Hospice in memory of Ursula Skinner who sadly passed away in February and we need your help to raise as much money as possible.
The match will feature Greenmount past playing ‘Legends’ and a select group of former Bolton League foes otherwise known as The Lash Ups. Any resemblance to the professional organisation The Lashings is utter nonsense!

You can contribute directly in three ways:
- Buy a wristband: They’re available behind the bar and cost less than a pint, so why not add one to your next drinks order?
- Buy one of these lovely commemorative shirts: They are available from Ian Senior (£25 for juniors and £30 for adults) and £10 from each sale will be kindly donated to the fund. Wouldn’t it be great to see the crowd with everyone wearing these shirts?
- Donate directly: We’ve got a GoFundMe page and really appreciate every contribution – no matter how small. DONATE HERE
Being really honest, we’ve had a very slow response to this campaign so far. Now that the World Cup is over, let’s change that and really kick-start the donations rolling in.
If anyone wants to get further involved with sponsorship or anything at all to support the day, please contact Ian Senior on 07960 137232.
Have a great week and we hope to see as many of you as possible enjoying the cricket!
